Use Whatever Method Feels Right!

Would you like to enhance your living experience and bring a touch of luxury to your home? There’s no better way to do so than with a home lighting control system. These innovative solutions not only provide functionality and convenience but also add beauty and ambiance to every area.

Unlike many DIY smart bulbs, you don’t have to be tethered to your phone to use a lighting control system. There’s a wide range of control options available, making it easy to change the mood at any time.

In this article, we’ll explore the different ways homeowners in Santa Barbara and the entire state of California can utilize home lighting control systems. Get inspired below!

SEE ALSO: Why Smart Lighting Control Is Essential in Modern Homes

1. Smart Home App

It all starts on the app. Whether you’re using a Control4, Savant, Crestron, or Lutron home system, its app will house all your home technologies, including smart lighting and shading. On the app, you can slide your finger on the color wheel and brightness bar to save customized smart LED settings. You’ll create scenes like ‘Morning’ or ‘Dinner’ that adjust every light fixture to create the perfect ambiance.

2. Custom Wall Plates & Keypads

Sometimes, it’s most convenient to reach for a switch on the wall. We upgrade regular on/off light switches with customizable, luxury wall plates that will feature buttons like “All On” or “All Off'' to control groups of lights simultaneously. We can even program unique buttons like “Entertain” or “Relax” to adjust lighting color and brightness to set a specific mood.

3. Control Panels & Tablets

Let’s say you want to dim the lights, but your phone is across the house. It helps to have a dedicated tablet mounted on the wall or propped on the table, waiting and ready with your lighting control interface.

4. Occupancy & Daylight Sensors

There’s nobody in the garage—so why are the lights on? Occupancy sensors can automatically power off lights in empty rooms, so you’ll instantly save energy. Lutron’s occupancy sensors don’t use tiny cameras but rather pyroelectric sensors that detect infrared heat. Lights will gently fade to dark so they won’t abruptly snap off and surprise anyone.

Similarly, Lutron’s lighting sensors detect whether or not a room has enough sunlight. If it grows dark, sensors will tell your lighting system to activate lights. Is there enough sunlight? Sensors will power off the lights and open motorized shades.

5. Voice Control

Don’t underestimate the power of voice! When you incorporate a sophisticated voice assistant in your home like Josh.ai, you’ll effortlessly control lighting using simple voice commands. Imagine coming home after a long day and simply saying, "Good evening, Josh." Instantly, your lights dim to a warm and soothing level, creating a relaxing atmosphere.

6. Automation & Schedules

Do you want your landscape lights to turn on automatically every day at sundown, then turn off at ten—leaving just the porch lights on? Do you want the kitchen lights to adjust to a specific hue and dimming level at six o’clock? Our smart control systems encourage you to create customized schedules that automate lighting to your routine.

7. Remote

Some folks prefer to use a handy handheld remote! Smart home remotes from Control4, Savant, and Crestron allow you to access all your home technologies through one device. With the same remote you use for the TV and audio, you can adjust smart lights in seconds.
